Shipping Lines “flock” together….

We recently received communication from a Freight Forwarding Company in Australia regarding the Shipping Lines increasing Fuel Costs.  Forwarding Companies are announcing a “follow the leader” type surcharge.  It is being called Emergency Bunker Recovery or a BAF Adjustment along with Emergency Fuel, Rate Adjustment Factor and by some even Operations Costs Recovery.

Unfortunately this means GDF will have to implement this global surcharge as an additional cost to our invoicing.  This cost is said to be around US$55/60 per 20ft container, a rate of US$2.50/RT and for the New Zealand trade AU$3.00/RT (for FCL traffic this will be invoiced exactly as per the specific carriers invoice with no additional).  This will apply from vessels sailing on or after the 15th June 2018.
